On October 26, 2013, members of the Kiwanis Club of Keyport along with members from the Marlboro Kiwanis Club, members of the Brookdale Circle K Club, members of the Jersey Shore Work Camp and family members volunteered to work on a home in Port Monmouth, NJ damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
The project consisted of removing debris from the back yard and placing it at the curb for pick up, removing dirt from the vinyl siding, scraping and painting the exterior window frames, bringing building materials inside the house and installing drywall throughout the interior rooms. The main objective was to install as much drywall as possible leaving the other action items as secondary. Due to the fact that the volunteers had to wait for the insulation to be completed, the building materials to be delivered and brought into the house, it did not leave much time to install the drywall. The club will try to schedule another day to work on the project.
